my life is changing ever so fast and its crazy that im about to enter my full adulthood years. i think im ready though. today i sat down with my mom for lunch and we had a huge discussion about my possible move to baltimore maryland. i just laid down the facts about possible better opportunities there and i strayed away from talk about how baton rouge sux because i know that it would get her riled up. after that i spoke to her about her situation with my dad and how its seriously fucked up that they are still together. later she revealed to me that they have filed for a divorce ( apparently he hasn't lived in the house for a long time); she is also planning to go back to school because now that we are all gone she realizes that she has a lot of time on her hands. go mom . i didnt know she had the guts to do it. hopefully my dad will be okay, if not hes got a lot of growing up to do and i only hope the best for him with that. her plan is to sell the house and move into a condo since she wont need a lot of space.
all my friends are leaving. people that ive known 2-7 years and boy i hate this. i dont make friends easy so it's just kinda horrid that i have to start this whole process over. weeding out the bad and inserting the good. but i guess thats life so i better get used to it.
so today i got up and decided to run the big lake and i did it for the second time. i figured that this cant be a everyday thing for me bc you really have to be in the right mindset to do it. the only thing is now the bottom of my left foot really hurts and i hope it's just bc i ran on it. one tennis player i know had to have surgery for a similar problem, she had fascitis or something?
MORE IMPORTANTLY: i decided to call about the fellowship today and i got in touch with the lady about it. she said that she didnt call me back bc she couldnt make out the area code for my number. but we talked and i sent her a cover letter and a resume. she told me that i would need to take 3 days out of the week when i graduate to go through the interview process, since of course it is IN MARYLAND. after i sent the cover letter and resume, she sent me a reply e-mail telling me to contact her when i make it to Maryland. so i think i definitely have one foot in the door
about the fellowship: its coupled with americorp so in addition to >22,000 i have the opportunity to get the $4,725 educational award, which i will need to pay off student loans that will be in deferment while im in Maryland and i will have some sort of health benefits.
but in the meantime i need to settle into a job, save money, look into getting a rent-a-car, some good dress attire and prep for an interview.
i also checked on the application at whole foods and prospects for working there seems likely. they are hiring and in the bakery section they just fired 2 people so i really hope that i get the job.
